NIRI success at Dornbirn Global Fibre Congress 2022

In mid-September, senior members of the NIRI team made their way to Dornbirn, Austria, for this year’s Dornbirn Global Fibre Congress (14th to 16th September). Dornbirn GFC is a significant event in the fibre and textile industry calendar and one that we were proud to support.

In addition to the 100 Expert Lectures (taking place across three halls), the show provided the opportunity to network with individuals from all areas of the textile and fibre industry. This included universities, technical colleges, trade associations and technical experts from over 30 countries.

NIRI CCO, Dr. Ross Ward was on hand to answer any questions from the show’s many delegates.

The perfect place for discussion

Topics for the show included Fibre Innovation, Sustainability, Surface Modification and Additive Technologies, and the NIRI team were on-hand to discuss the latest nonwoven and fibre trends and developments.

We’d like to thank everyone that took time to visit the NIRI stand (located in the main hall) and discovered how we provide unrivalled technical and commercial support to help businesses grow. NIRI’s Dr. Matthew Tipper and Dr. Ross Ward met some fantastic people and there were some great discussions around how we can tackle the sustainability challenge and help businesses grow at the same time.

Developing a sustainable future

The topic of sustainability was at the forefront of discussions taking place at Dornirn-GFC and it is clear we have a long way to go before we achieve our aspirations of a zero-waste economy.

One of NIRI’s key aims is to help companies meet the sustainability challenge and grow their business. Here are some of the ways in which we can achieve this:

  • Improve new material process compatibility
  • Improve products recyclability
  • Improve products biodegradability and compostability
  • Improve products flushability and ocean degradability
  • Prototype and validate new sustainable products
  • Identify new market opportunities
  • Advise on new legislation
  • Provide Intelligence studies and bespoke training packages
